What is public training?

Public training refers to our regularly scheduled classes that you can find here. They cover our standard outline. It's very simple - you can find the course that you would like to take, select a session date and register yourself online.
All of our public courses:

Are live and instructor-led
Are taught online using our Microsoft Teams account
Are guaranteed to run
Include 30 days of after-training support, a certificate of completion and a PDF reference guide

What is private training?

Private group training refers to our customized sessions, which are tailored to your specific needs.
There is a wide range of customization options available depending on your needs.
We can:

Customize your course to cover only the topics and subject matter that are appropriate for your team
Schedule your course to be entirely convenient for you—whether choosing the optimal date, splitting sessions over two days with half-day options, adjusting for various time zones, or customizing start and end times
Customize your outline to fit it into a certain amount of time (e.g., 4 hours instead of our standard 6 hours)
Hold your training online, at your location, or at our training centre located in Downtown Ottawa
Use your working files instead of using our standard exercise files

We are also happy to host private webinars – short, presentation-style training that spans 1-2 hours and focuses on a very specific topic.

Question 3

When should I do private training and when should I book a public class?

It’s always up to you.

Private training is more beneficial when:

You have 6+ team members to train; or
You would like to customize the content; or
You want to use your own working files during the course

It is more cost-effective to book a public class if:

You have five or fewer team members taking a course
You would like to learn the standard outline
You are available when the public course is offered

Wait, you offer custom training?

We sure do! You can customize your training to cover the topics most relevant to your operations. As well, we can even use your working files during the exercises! Fill out the form below for more information about custom training options.

Can I get a recording of my training?

Accepted Answer

Private sessions can be recorded; however, you must advise of this requirement when booking your training. Your training coordinator will be able to discuss those fees with you and how that can be integrated into your training. Contact us for more information.

Do you offer training in French?

I don’t see a course I’m interested in taking.

Accepted Answer

Contact us and we will be able to determine whether a custom outline or session would be right for you. We also offer courses through our training partners that may be what you’re looking for.

Question 8

How do I know what level is right for me or my team?

Accepted Answer

Our general guideline is that if you know 80% of one level, move up to the next one. For our Excel Level 1 (Basic), Excel Level 2 (Intermediate) and Excel Level 3 (Advanced) training, we offer formal assessments as a service. We will coordinate sending out the assessments and provide your organization with a report of each participant's skill level for Excel.

If you aren’t sure, reach out to our training coordinators and we will help you assess you or your team’s skill level.

Do you offer packages?

What does it mean that your courses are “Guaranteed to Run”?

We want you to be able to schedule your training with confidence. Therefore, our public classes will always run – even if you are the only person registered!

What is your “Learn or Come Back Free” Policy?

If you take one of our public training classes, use your after-training support, and still find you cannot effectively apply what you were taught, our policy will apply. In this rare event, inform us within 30 days of taking your course and you will be welcome to retake that session at no charge within 12 months

What is  after-training support?

After you train with us, you will receive an after-training support voucher. This voucher provides 30 days of assistance in applying what you’ve learned to your job, via a bilingual 24/7 live chat service.

For example, you may return to your job and realize you need help with just one step in the process. With after-training support, you can get that extra support and clarity after you’ve left the class!

What platform do you use for online training?

Accepted Answer

All of our public courses are live and instructor-led and are taught online using Microsoft Teams. Teams is the perfect tool to encourage engagement, and our instructors use relevant features such as the chat, emoji reactions, hand raising, and breakout rooms to enhance the session.
Since we run our virtual classes from our Teams account, we handle setting up and sending out the link. Additionally, that means we can jump in to troubleshoot as it's our company account.
Private training can be hosted on Teams, Zoom, WebEx or another platform that you prefer.

What time is my training? What kind of schedule do you follow?

Our standard training time is Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. EST with a 1hr lunch. However, we know that a full day away from your desk may not be feasible. That is why we offer 2-half day courses for select courses or for private sessions. Please speak to our training coordinators about accommodating private training in your time zone.

How many people do you recommend in a session?

For software training, we recommend up to 20 people. For professional skills training, we recommend up to 25 people. If your group is larger, please speak to us about how we can accommodate your team.

What if something goes wrong on the day of my training?

We know that no matter how much we prepare, issues can come up on the day of training. That’s why we make sure our GREAT customer service is right by your side during training to deal with any interruption that comes up (e.g. technical issues).
